11 Nov 2009 | AGMI to Partner Gaming Hospitality Experts LLC in Asia
AGMI International and Gaming Hospitality Experts LLC signed a Memorandum of Understanding on November 11th 2009 to jointly offer a range of training courses and HR services specially geared for the Gaming and Hospitality industry in Asia.

The signing of a comprehensive partnership agreement between Dr. Alan Soh of AGMI International and Ms. Mona Vaccarella of Gaming Hospitality Experts LLC sealed many years of their working together in the industry on various collaborative efforts.

Under the agreement, AGMI International will be exclusive partner of Gaming Hospitality Experts LLC and will offer to the Asian Hospitality market, the full range of GHE training products and services including Organisational Assessment and Performance Evaluation tools and training courses in key topics like Organisational Effectiveness, Organisational Strategic Planning, Professional Leadership and Development and Executive Leadership Development. The deal will also include the offering of GHE’s Human Resource recruitment and placement services through AGMI International.

10 & 11 Nov 2009 | AGMI International at Asian Casinos Symposium
At the Asian Casinos Symposium, held on 10th and 11th November 2009 our Principal, Dr. Alan Soh and our Academic Consultant, Mr K C Ang were active participants – with Dr. Soh featured as one of the speakers. He presented a paper on “Shortage of Skilled Casino Workers: Deriving Solutions to Asia’s Casino Staffing Problems.”

Dr. Soh were later joined by Ms Mona Vaccarella and Mr. Sebastian Font in a Panel Discussion on HR issues moderated by Mr. K C Ang

Also making a prominent appearance at the Symposium were some of AGMI’s ‘star students’ who provided ‘entertainment’ to the delegates during coffee and lunch breaks as they manned the various table games presented by AGMI.

10 & 11 Nov 2009 | Our Latest Batch of Students from India & China
Our latest batch of 12 students from India and China arrived on September 16th 2009 to start their three-and-a-half month Pro-Dealer Program. The program consists of 3 games – Blackjack, Baccarat and Roulette together with basic training on Table Management, Game Protection and Customer Service.

The group attends hands-on teaching sessions at AGMI’s Gaming Lab every weekday morning. They are a cheerful lot - young, enthusiastic, eager to learn and seems to be enjoying themselves. According to Mr Fidel Cruz Yu, AGMI’s Senior Trainer it is a challenge to train the class of absolute beginners but he finds satisfaction in seeing the students slowly but surely picking up skills needed for them to fulfil their dreams of starting a career in the gaming industry.

Quite a few of the students expressed their hope of working and staying on in Singapore, and eventually becoming Permanent Residents here.

Ms Kanimozhi Kumanan, 25, who hails from Bangalore spoke of her wish to get a job in one of the casinos in Singapore and being able to “continue enjoying the good life here in Singapore”. She was full of praise for Singapore being such a clean and safe place with everything so modern and hi-tech – things many Singaporeans take for granted.

AGMI - School of Professional Education, at the Johor Bahru Education Fair held on 19/20 December '09

Throngs of curious school leavers crowded around the AGMI International exhibition booth at the Johore Bahru International Convention Hall during the recent Education Fair held on the 19th and 20th December
2009. AGMI International Principal, Dr. Alan Soh, gave a talk on the ‘Career Prospects in the Hospitality and Gaming Industry’ - a topic which attracted a full house audience. Many peppered Dr. Soh with questions like qualifications needed to join the various professional dealer and management programmes, starting pays in casinos, long term career prospects in the Gaming industry, etc.

It was a successful campaign for AGMI International. We received hundreds of inquiry with many indicating their keen interests in the various Dealer Courses offered by the School.

Our next fair participation could be in March 2010. Look out for details soon!

17 Nov 2009 | Hong Kong TV visits AGMI International
November 17th was another special day for our AGMI School of Professional Education – we had a visit from Hong Kong’s ‘NOW TV’ station. The staff writer, Ms. Alison Kwok interviewed our Principal, Dr Alan Soh and some of our students as they when about their lessons in AGMI’s Gaming Lab.
